Choosing a Centrifuge for Nickel Sulfate Crystallization & Dewatering

Comparing automatic scraper and worm screen centrifuges for nickel sulfate separation.

LGZ automatic scraper bottom discharge centrifuge used for nickel sulfate crystallization

Nickel sulfate (NiSO₄) is one of the most widely processed inorganic salts in industrial chemistry — used in nickel electroplating, catalysts, and increasingly as a key precursor for the nickel-rich cathode materials (NMC, NCA) used in EV batteries. Whichever end use it's headed for, nickel sulfate has to come out of solution as a clean, well-formed, low-moisture crystal — and that's a centrifuge's job.

Why Centrifugal Separation for Nickel Sulfate

Nickel sulfate is typically crystallized from a purified nickel solution, then separated from the remaining mother liquor and washed to strip out residual impurities before drying and packaging. Centrifuges handle this better than static filtration for a few concrete reasons:

Two Centrifuge Types, Two Different Jobs

We manufacture two centrifuge lines with confirmed nickel sulfate applications — which one fits depends on whether your process runs in batches or continuously, and how automated you need it to be.

CentrifugeOperationBest fit
LGZ Automatic Scraper Bottom Discharge Centrifuge Batch, fully automatic High-purity, GMP-adjacent processing with PLC-controlled feeding, washing and scraper discharge cycles — good fit when consistency and traceability matter as much as throughput.
LLW Horizontal Worm Screen Centrifuge Continuous High-volume crystalline separation with continuous feeding, washing and discharge — better suited to large-scale, steady-state production runs.

Battery-Grade Nickel Sulfate

Nickel sulfate is a direct precursor to nickel-rich cathode active materials used in EV batteries. If you're evaluating equipment for that supply chain specifically, see our related post on centrifuges in lithium battery production and recycling.
